It means that the pen is capable of telling the system the amount of pressure that being applied to the tablet.
The clearest example of this demonstrate when you are drawing. Pen pressure can be used to provide the same of effect that you get with the brush or a pencil. The harder you press the pen tip on the tablet surface, the thicker or darker the line may appear. The higher pressure sensitivity, the better control of precise drawing line.
2. Active Area
Active area should be relative to your screen size and resolution. The smaller active area, the less hand movement will be necessary to move the cursor on the screen, but it requires a higher resolution. Because with a high resolution, you can use comfortably with a big screen. Having a tablet too small for your screen makes cursor jumpy and fine selections difficult. A tablet too big for your screen would slow your drawing speed, requiring too much hand movement.
